PVC Coated Fabric Knowledge Base

PVC coated fabric, also known as PVC tarpaulin, PVC coated tarpaulin, PVC laminated tarpaulin, or PVC reinforced tarpaulin, is a flexible composite material made with a textile base fabric and a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coating.

Unlike a single-layer plastic sheet or ordinary woven fabric, PVC coated tarpaulin is built as a reinforced material. A typical structure includes a PVC top layer, a polyester base fabric, and a PVC bottom layer. Depending on the production process and application requirements, the material may also include an impregnation layer, bonding layer, surface treatment layer, or printed layer.

In simple terms, PVC coated tarpaulin fabric is a high-strength textile fabric protected by functional PVC coating. The base fabric provides tensile strength, tear resistance, and dimensional stability. The PVC coating provides waterproofing, weather resistance, color, flexibility, weldability, flame retardancy, anti-mildew properties, UV resistance, cold resistance, and other functional performance when required.
