FAQ About Tarpaulin Rolls

Here you will find our most frequently asked questions. If you do not find a resolution to your question, feel free to contact us directly.

Our standard MOQ is 5,000 square meters (㎡) per color per specification for roll material orders. For custom size tarpaulin or finished product orders, the MOQ is 5,000㎡. We occasionally accept smaller trial orders for qualified new partners — contact us to discuss your requirements.

We produce three standard widths: 1.6m, 1.83m, 2.1m, 3.2m and 5.1m. Extra-wide rolls reduce seam counts and installation labor — a measurable advantage for large-scale projects.

A tarp roll is material supplied in roll format for later cutting, welding, sewing or conversion. A finished tarp already has confirmed dimensions, hems, grommets, reinforcement and packing details. Choose roll material when you need local fabrication flexibility.

Yes. As an experienced custom tarpaulin manufacturer, we offer Pantone / RAL color matching for orders ≥ 5,000㎡. For custom branding (printed labels, branded packaging, logo printing), the MOQ is 5,000㎡.

Both. LonaTarp is a vertically integrated factory — we produce PVC coated fabric roll and TPU fabric wholesale material AND we manufacture finished tarpaulins under OEM and private label programs. Whether you need raw rolls or finished, branded products, we handle it in-house.

Our OEM tarpaulin supplier service covers the full production cycle: custom material specification, logo printing (screen/heat transfer/digital), custom packaging (poly bags, branded boxes, tags), color matching, and document support (COA, MSDS, COO). We act as an extension of your brand team, not just a vendor.

Our heavy duty tarpaulin roll and custom tarpaulin manufacturer products serve: construction (scaffolding, site enclosures), agriculture (greenhouse film, silage covers), logistics (truck tarpaulins, container covers), marine (boat covers, dock seals), sports (stadium enclosures, court dividers), industrial (dust barriers, welding curtains), and branded consumer lines through our OEM tarpaulin supplier program.

Price depends on material family, GSM, base fabric, coating, width, color, surface finish, functional requirements, roll length, packing, quantity and sample needs. For B2B orders, compare the quote against usable yield and finished-cover performance, not only price per square meter.

Absolutely. Our custom size tarpaulin service is a core capability. Send us your dimensions or drawings — our technical team confirms feasibility and provides a detailed quotation within 24 hours. We produce custom dimensions in any length, width, and GSM from our Haining factory.

Haining Lona Coated Material holds CE, SGS, and ISO 9001 certifications. We also maintain REACH compliance for EU market requirements — particularly important for buyers sourcing TPU fabric wholesale for environmentally regulated applications. All certifications are verifiable with issuing bodies.

Standard lead time is 15 days after deposit receipt for production-ready orders up to 5,000㎡. TPU fabric wholesale orders require 20 days due to material preparation. Large orders or highly custom specifications may require 20–30 days.

Yes. We can send A4-size material samples of most specifications free of charge (shipping collect). For full-width sample rolls (50m), we charge the bulk rate per square meter — credited back when you place a confirmed order ≥ 5,000㎡.

Yes. We offer FOB, CIF, DDP, EXW, and DAP terms. Our logistics team has experience with shipments to 60+ countries across North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa, South America, and the Middle East. For orders ≥ 10,000㎡, we can arrange consolidated shipping to reduce per-unit freight costs.

Yes. Our TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) fabric is a premium, fully recyclable alternative to PVC. TPU fabric wholesale is increasingly preferred by buyers in regulated markets and eco-labeled product lines. MOQ: 5,000㎡. Lead time: 20 days. Available in widths up to 3.2m and weights from 300–1500 GSM.

No. LonaTarp works with B2B custom production and bulk roll programs. The usual project reference is MOQ 5,000 square meters, with sample confirmation before bulk production when the specification needs approval.

Tarpaulin Roll Collection for B2B Fabricators and Distributors

If your team asks for a tarpaulin roll, the next question is not only price. A usable roll order needs the material direction, GSM or thickness, roll width, color, coating method, surface finish, welding or sewing plan, packing method and quantity. Fabricators, distributors and OEM cover producers often buy roll material because they will cut, weld, sew or convert the fabric locally. This page helps you compare the main tarp roll directions before sending a bulk inquiry.

LonaTarp manufactures PVC coated tarpaulin and related coated fabric products for B2B projects. We can also discuss suitable supply routes for PE/poly rolls, mesh rolls, TPU fabrics or finished covers when the application requires a different material family.

Start With the Tarp Roll Format, Not the Final Cover Name

A tarp roll is usually a purchase format, not the finished product name. The same roll can become truck covers, warehouse curtains, equipment covers, ground sheets, pool-related covers, industrial panels or distributor stock after cutting and finishing. That is why a roll inquiry should start with the conversion plan.

If the buyer only says “I need a roll,” we usually ask where the material will be processed. Will it be welded by high-frequency machine, hot-air welded, sewn, cut into standard panels, printed with a logo, or packed as plain roll stock? These details decide whether the roll needs a smoother surface, stronger adhesion, a softer hand feel, wider tolerance control or a heavier base fabric.

Buyer situationWhat to confirm before quoteWhy it matters
Local tarp workshopRoll width, GSM, color, welding method, cutting lossHelps the workshop reduce waste and keep repeat production consistent.
Distributor stock programRoll length, color range, packing, label, carton or pallet planKeeps SKU management and repeat orders easier.
OEM cover productionSurface finish, coating direction, edge process, sample approvalThe roll must match the final cover's fabrication method.
Project contractorApplication, exposure, fixing stress, delivery scheduleAvoids choosing a roll that is easy to buy but wrong for the job.

Roll of Tarpaulin or Finished Tarp: Choose the Right Buying Route

A roll of tarpaulin is better when your team controls the final cutting, welding, sewing or packaging. It gives local fabricators more flexibility, especially when one batch needs several finished sizes or when the same material will be converted into different cover products.

Finished tarps are better when the buyer already knows the final dimensions, reinforced hem design, grommet spacing, corner patches, labels and packing. In that case, the factory can quote the complete product instead of only the roll material. If the design is still changing, buying roll goods first may create unnecessary waste or leave the fabricator with the wrong roll width.

Use roll material when you need flexibility. Use finished covers when the fixing layout and installation details are already approved.

PVC Tarpaulin Roll Options for Core Cover Fabrication

A PVC tarpaulin roll is usually the first direction to review for heavy-use covers, truck tarps, industrial curtains, construction protection, agricultural covers and many outdoor products. The fabric structure normally combines a polyester base fabric with PVC coating or lamination. The base fabric carries much of the pulling load, while the PVC surface contributes waterproofing behavior, weather resistance, color and fabrication performance.

For PVC rolls, do not compare one GSM number alone. A useful specification should also include yarn strength, coating adhesion, surface finish, width, color, UV or flame-retardant requirement if needed, and the planned fabrication method. For repeated B2B programs, sample approval should check both the surface and the edge-processing behavior.

PVC Tarpaulin Fabric Roll for Cutting, Welding and Local Conversion

A PVC tarpaulin fabric roll is suitable when the buyer needs roll stock for local conversion. In production planning, we check whether the fabric will be cut into small panels, welded into large covers, sewn into bags or curtains, printed, folded for retail packs, or used as OEM roll material for another factory.

Roll width is one of the most practical decisions. A wider roll may reduce joining lines for large panels, but it can also affect handling, packing size and cutting loss. A narrower roll may be easier for small workshops, but it may require more seams if the finished cover is large. For welding, the buyer should also confirm whether the surface and coating construction match the equipment and seam requirement.

PVC Coated Tarpaulin Roll Depends on Base Fabric, Coating and Finish

A PVC coated tarpaulin roll should be selected from its structure, not from the coating name alone. Base fabric, yarn density, coating thickness, coating adhesion, lacquer, embossing, printability and flexibility all change how the roll behaves after it becomes a cover.

For transport and outdoor storage, buyers often care about tear strength, tensile strength, waterproof behavior, UV exposure and cold flexibility. For curtains, covers or soft products, the hand feel, folding mark, cleaning surface and print surface may also matter. If flame retardancy, anti-mildew behavior or restricted-substance compliance is required, it should be confirmed by the agreed test method and sample, not by a generic claim.

Heavy Duty Tarpaulin Roll Requires More Than Higher GSM

A heavy duty tarpaulin roll is not automatically better because it is heavier. For demanding applications, the buyer should check the full load path: base fabric strength, tear behavior, coating adhesion, weldability, abrasion points, folding frequency and how the finished cover will be fixed.

If the roll will become truck covers or industrial covers, edge stress often decides the final service result. The center fabric may still look strong while the welded area, sewn hem, grommet row or corner patch fails first. For that reason, a heavy-duty roll inquiry should include the final fixing method and the expected conversion process, not only GSM.

Risk to avoidRoll detail to confirmPractical reason
Roll too stiff for fabricationFlexibility, temperature range and welding behaviorA stronger roll may still be hard to process or fold.
Roll width creates wasteFinished panel size and cutting planPoor width planning increases material loss.
Edge fails before fabric centerFinished hem, weld, sewing or grommet planThe roll must support the final cover structure.
Wrong surface for printingLacquer, surface texture and ink compatibilityPrinted covers need a surface that matches the printing method.

Vinyl Tarp Roll for Buyers Using North American Material Language

A vinyl tarp roll often refers to PVC-coated or vinyl-coated fabric in North American buying language. If your purchasing team uses the word vinyl, we recommend confirming whether the requirement is a finished vinyl tarp, a roll material for fabrication, or a PVC coated polyester fabric direction.

For roll orders, the useful details are similar: weight or GSM, base fabric, coating, color, roll width, surface finish, welding or sewing plan, UV exposure, sample checking and packing. If the buyer needs finished covers with hems and grommets, the vinyl tarps page is a better route. If the buyer needs roll stock for local fabrication, this tarpaulin roll collection is the correct starting point.

Custom PVC Tarpaulin Roll Details to Confirm Before Sampling

A custom PVC tarpaulin roll should be quoted after the working specification is clear. Before sampling, send the application, material direction, GSM or thickness, roll width, color, surface finish, coating or lamination preference, welding or sewing method, flame-retardant or UV requirement if needed, roll length, packing method and quantity.

If the roll will be converted by another factory, include their equipment limits when possible. A sample that looks good on the table may still be wrong if it welds poorly, curls during cutting, cracks in folding, or creates too much cutting loss. For OEM and distributor programs, we can also review label, carton, pallet and repeat-order consistency before bulk production.

Tarpaulin Roll Price Depends on Specification, Yield and Packing

Tarpaulin roll price cannot be quoted accurately from the roll name alone. The main cost drivers are material family, base fabric, coating weight, GSM, roll width, color, surface finish, functional additives, order quantity, packing method, sample requirement and delivery terms.

For many buyers, the lowest roll price is not the lowest project cost. A cheaper roll may create higher cutting loss, weaker seams, inconsistent color, slower fabrication or more inspection problems. A more useful quotation compares the roll specification with the finished product plan so the buyer can judge cost per usable cover, not only cost per square meter.

Black Tarp Roll and Color Programs Should Stay Inside the Roll Plan

A black tarp roll can be part of a broader color program, especially for distributors, equipment-cover producers or outdoor protection projects. Black may help hide stains and create a uniform appearance, but it can also affect heat absorption and project suitability. The color decision should be made together with material, coating, UV exposure, surface finish and packing.

If the buyer needs several colors in one program, send the full color list before sampling. The same material family should keep comparable hand feel, thickness, roll width and packing unless the application requires a different grade. This keeps reorder planning easier and reduces confusion between color SKUs.

Use PE, Mesh or TPU Roll Routes Only When the Material Need Is Different

Not every roll inquiry should be forced into PVC. PE or poly tarps may fit cost-sensitive temporary covers or light-duty distributor programs. A mesh tarp direction may fit airflow, shade or debris-control projects. TPU fabrics may be discussed when the buyer needs a different hand feel, flexibility or performance profile.

These material families should be routed carefully. PE/poly is a supply option, while LonaTarp's stronger manufacturing direction is PVC coated tarpaulin and related coated fabrics. If the buyer is unsure, send the working environment and conversion method first; our team can help decide whether a PVC roll, PE/poly roll, mesh roll, TPU fabric or finished cover route is more suitable.

Quality Checks Before Bulk Tarpaulin Roll Production

For bulk roll orders, quality control should focus on the details that affect downstream fabrication: roll width, thickness or GSM tolerance, coating condition, color consistency, surface finish, adhesion, roll edge condition, weld or sewing behavior, packing, label accuracy and sample consistency.

When UV resistance, flame retardancy, anti-mildew behavior or chemical resistance is important, the requirement should be tied to the agreed test method, sample or inspection report. We avoid promising one fixed outdoor life for every tarpaulin roll because service life depends on material structure, exposure, climate, installation tension, cleaning and the finished cover design.
