A plain cut-to-size tarp requires much less processing than one with finished edges, reinforced stress points, closely spaced grommets, D-rings, webbing, printing or retail-ready packaging.
Retail Price vs. B2B Factory Price
A retail listing normally represents one predefined product sold by the piece. Its size, construction and packaging have already been decided.
A factory order may start with a drawing or target size and then add the construction needed for a distributor SKU, branded product line or specific application.
That difference matters when comparing prices. A $/piece figure for a stocked retail tarp and a factory quote for several hundred made-to-order tarps do not represent the same purchasing conditions.
What Actually Changes a Finished Tarp Quote?
The most common price inputs are:
For grommet-equipped orders, the component reference cost is currently $0.05 per stainless steel grommet or $0.08 per brass grommet.
Sewing, reinforced corners, D-rings, webbing, Velcro, zippers, printing, and similar additions depend on the actual finished design, so these are confirmed with the individual quotation rather than added as one standard surcharge.
IV. How Do You Compare Vinyl Tarp Quotes Like-for-Like?
Suppose Supplier A and Supplier B both quote a 10′ × 20′ tarp.
Supplier A is pricing a white 20 oz vinyl tarp cut to size. Supplier B includes finished edges, reinforced corners, stainless steel grommets, D-rings and individual branded packaging.
The dimensions match. The products do not.
Before deciding which quote is lower, compare what is actually being supplied.
Start With the Finished Tarp
Check the details that define the physical product:
- Finished size and shape
- Weight / thickness
- Edge construction

- D-rings, webbing or other hardware
