The target 400 g/m² is the mass of the complete polyester-reinforced PVC material. At the same covered area, material mass affects handling and transport, but it does not establish thickness or strength. For example, a nominal 250 m² material area at 400 g/m² contains 100 kg of fabric before cores, packaging or fabrication are added.

For demanding tension, rubbing or outdoor exposure, compare tensile, tear, adhesion and seam requirements separately. Choosing a fire-retardant formulation does not remove those mechanical checks.
Validate the fire-retardant sample after fabrication
Use a sample of the proposed 400 GSM construction in your actual welding, sewing, cutting or printing process. Check the processed seam, adhesion near the joining area and folding behavior. Where the finished assembly has its own fire requirements, ask the responsible project reviewer what evidence is needed for that assembly; a roll-material report should not be assumed to cover every finished configuration.
Keep the approved sample, material specification and relevant report together. Bulk inspection can then compare the delivered rolls with the agreed mass, appearance, color, width, length and construction. Changes to those specifications should be reviewed against the documented fire-performance scope before acceptance.
