FAQ About Pool Liners for B2B Buyers

Here you will find our most frequently asked questions. If you do not find a resolution to your question, feel free to contact us directly.

Confirm traffic level, pool type, water chemistry, cleaning method, curve and step details, seam plan, installer handling and whether you need roll material or pre-planned panels. Thickness should be chosen with these conditions, not alone.

5,000㎡ per order. If your project is smaller, contact us about combining with other buyers or using our standard roll program.

Yes, we can offer customized production based on your patterns and prints, and we also provide custom colors — we can match colors according to your samples or color codes. The minimum order quantity for customized products is 5,000 square meters or more.

15 days from dimension confirmation and deposit receipt. For container orders over 50,000㎡, we coordinate production scheduling to meet your project timeline.

CE, SGS, ISO 9001:2015, REACH, RoHS. Test reports include: tensile strength, tear resistance, chlorine resistance, UV aging, temperature range. Full documentation package provided with orders.

No. A pool liner sits inside the pool shell to create a watertight and decorative lining. A pool cover tarp is used above the pool to protect water or the pool area when it is not in use. The material, fixing method and buyer intent are different.

In many buyer inquiries, vinyl pool liner material refers to flexible PVC liner material. We still confirm the construction, reinforcement, thickness, surface finish and welding method because the same wording can describe different grades.

1m x 1m sample panels available at cost. Specify your water chemistry (chlorine levels, pH, temperature) so we send the appropriate formulation. Samples ship within 5 business days. Sample cost credited against orders exceeding 5,000㎡.

Send pool type, drawings, dimensions, depth profile, shell material, corner and step details, target thickness, pattern or color, expected traffic, chemical exposure, roll or panel preference, order quantity and sample requirements. LonaTarp works on B2B custom production, with MOQ normally starting from 5,000 square meters.

Pool Liner Materials for Commercial Swimming Pools

A pool liner is not only a decorative skin. For hotel pools, resort pools, municipal pools and renovation projects, the liner has to stay watertight while handling water chemistry, surface cleaning, UV exposure, curved walls, steps and welded joints.

LonaTarp makes custom pool liners from reinforced PVC and vinyl material for B2B projects that need bulk production, pattern approval and stable quality before installation. Before quoting, we review the pool structure, depth changes, corner radius, expected traffic, sanitizer level and whether your installer needs rolls or pre-planned panels. The right pool liner material should weld cleanly, follow the shell shape and match the visual sample approved by your buyer.

Commercial Pool Liners Should Start With the Pool Environment

Commercial pool liners fail in different ways from light residential liners. A hotel pool may see daily cleaning and constant guest traffic. A municipal pool may use stronger sanitizer control. A water park may have complex shapes, steps, splash zones and frequent abrasion near entry points.

When we discuss commercial pool liners, we first ask how the pool is used, not which pattern looks best. The liner grade should be selected around water chemistry, UV exposure, expected service load, cleaning method and whether the pool shell already has cracks, tiles or uneven surfaces. These details affect PVC formulation, reinforcement weight, surface treatment and seam planning.

Swimming Pool Liners for Concrete, Steel-Panel and Prefabricated Pools

Swimming pool liners can be used for new pools and renovation work, but the pool structure changes the material decision. Concrete pools need attention to surface preparation and corner shaping. Steel-panel pools need dimensional stability and clean fixing details. Prefabricated pools often need flexible liner material that can follow curves without creating stress points.

Pool structureWhat the buyer should confirmWhy it matters
Concrete poolSurface condition, corner radius, old tile or coating, drain and step detailsUneven surfaces and tight corners can increase seam stress or visible defects.
Steel-panel poolPanel dimensions, fixing method, edge profile and expected movementThe liner must fit without pulling against panel joints.
Prefabricated poolShape tolerance, folded areas, installation sequence and packing formatFlexible material helps installation, but folding and welding details still need control.
Renovation poolLeakage history, cracks, peeling coating, old liner condition and water loss pointsA liner can help create a continuous waterproof surface when the shell is properly prepared.

Vinyl Pool Liners Need More Than a Pattern Choice

Many buyers use the term vinyl pool liners when they are sourcing flexible PVC liner material. Pattern and color matter because they affect how the pool looks under water, but the hidden structure matters more for commercial projects. A beautiful print will not solve poor welding, weak reinforcement or a formulation that becomes brittle under the wrong exposure conditions.

For vinyl pool liners, we recommend confirming three things before pattern selection: the liner construction, the expected chemical environment and the seam layout. If the buyer needs a mosaic, tile, wave or marble finish, the pattern should be approved with a real sample, then locked with the same material grade planned for bulk production.

PVC Pool Liner Material: Film, Polyester Reinforcement and Surface Finish

A PVC pool liner is usually built from PVC films laminated with polyester reinforcement. The PVC layer provides waterproofing, flexibility, color and surface function; the reinforcement helps dimensional stability and supports handling during welding and installation.

Pool liner material should not be judged only by thickness or weight. Two materials with similar thickness can behave differently if the reinforcement, PVC formulation, plasticizer system, surface finish or welding window is different. For commercial orders, we usually confirm:

  • base reinforcement and finished weight;
  • thickness in millimeters or mils;
  • surface texture, print or solid color;
  • hot-air welding suitability;
  • chemical exposure level;
  • optional protective lacquer for stain, scratch, UV, mold or fungus resistance;
  • sample and inspection requirements before bulk production.

Reinforced PVC Pool Liner Options for Curves, Steps and Renovation Work

Reinforced PVC pool liner material is useful when the project needs a continuous waterproof lining over corners, curved walls, steps or an old pool shell. The reinforcement helps the material stay more stable during handling, while the PVC surface provides waterproofing and the visual finish.

For renovation projects, we do not recommend choosing the liner only by a generic grade name. The installer should confirm the shell condition, step geometry, drain position, overflow edge, welding access and how the material will be packed. These details help us suggest whether the buyer should receive roll material, cut panels or a production plan that leaves enough margin for site welding.

Custom Pool Liners Need Drawings, Roll Width and Seam Planning

Custom pool liners should be quoted from project information, not from a single size. Send the pool layout, wall height, depth profile, steps, corner radius, drain positions, edge fixing method and target pattern. If the pool is already built, photos of the shell and problem areas are also useful.

For roll supply, we confirm width, roll length, packing method and whether the installer will weld on site. For panel planning, we review seam direction, overlap allowance and whether the pattern needs visual alignment. This is especially important for mosaic pool liner, tile pool liner, wave pool liner and marble pool liner designs where repeated patterns can look misaligned under water.

Pool Liner Thickness Should Match Traffic, Welding and Handling

Pool liner thickness is a specification, not a quality guarantee by itself. Thicker material may improve handling strength and abrasion allowance, but it can also affect flexibility, folding, welding settings and installation work around tight corners.

When a buyer asks for a thickness such as a millimeter value or a 60 mil reference, we confirm how the pool will be used and how the liner will be installed. A seasonal private pool, a hotel pool and a water park do not need the same balance of flexibility, reinforcement, surface protection and welding control.

Buyer questionBetter way to specify it
"How thick should the liner be?"Confirm pool type, traffic level, cleaning method, water chemistry and installation method first.
"Is heavier always better?"Check reinforcement, PVC formulation, peel strength, welding behavior and surface finish, not only weight.
"Can you match a 60 mil commercial liner?"Send the required thickness, test standard, sample target and whether equivalent millimeter thickness is acceptable.
"Can one liner fit every pool?"No. Shape, shell condition, seams, color and exposure conditions change the final material choice.

Pool Liner Patterns and Colors Should Be Approved With Real Samples

Pool liner patterns can look different in a catalog, on a dry sample and under water. Blue, dark blue, light blue, tile, mosaic, wave and marble effects should be checked under the lighting conditions expected in the project. For outdoor pools, color stability also depends on pigment, PVC formulation, UV system, surface treatment and local exposure.

If your buyer is choosing between printed designs, send the preferred pattern code, color reference and any brand or hotel design requirement. We can prepare sample panels before bulk production so the buyer can check the surface, color, texture and welding behavior together.

For deeper pattern pages, review our mosaic pool liner, tile pool liner and wave pool liner options.

Quality Checks Before Bulk Pool Liner Production

Before a bulk pool liner order, we recommend checking the sample against the same performance points that matter in the pool. Useful checks may include thickness, finished weight, tensile strength, tear behavior, peel strength, hot-air welding, colorfastness, UV or weathering requirements, chemical resistance and mold or fungus resistance when required.

The exact test method should be agreed before production. Artificial UV or aging test hours should not be translated directly into guaranteed outdoor years, because exposure angle, climate, pool chemistry, cleaning method and color can all change field performance. Our quality control process helps buyers compare samples, confirm production requirements and reduce mismatch between approved sample and bulk material. Certification documents can be reviewed on the certificates page when your project requires them.

What Can You Custom Swimming Pool Liners?

I've seen some buyers waste months trying to find a "close enough" standard material roll. In this industry, "close enough" doesn't work. Here's what we actually customize for pool liner material rolls:

  • Material Formula: Premium 1000D PVC coating — the exact same formula trusted by hotel chains, municipal pools, and water parks across Europe and North America.
  • Thickness: 0.3 mm to 2.0 mm (Common specifications: 0.4 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.85 mm, 1.2 mm, 1.5 mm — corresponding to different usage intensities).
  • Dimensions (Roll Width × Roll Length): Pool liner roll width from 1.5 m to 2.1 m (multiple sheets can be welded to cover any pool shape); roll length from 10 m to over 100 m.
  • Colors: 12 standard pool colors (light blue, deep ocean blue, sand, etc.), plus custom Pantone matching for branded projects.
  • Patterns: 9 patterns (mosaic, water ripple, tile, etc.) — custom designs available.
  • Surface Finishes: Smooth finish, 3D anti-slip texture (wet-state coefficient ≥0.6), custom printed logos/pool bottom graphics (continuous or registered positioning available).
  • Roll Reinforcement: For high-stress installations (e.g., steep pool walls, commercial deep pools), a polyester mesh reinforcement layer can be embedded during production — tear strength increased by 3x.
  • Shape Compatibility: Kidney, figure-8, L-shape, freeform, geometric, irregular pools.
